Indiana mostly warm and wet for February
The USDA says February weather was variable in Indiana.
The month started off atypically warmer and wetter and while a cooler pattern emerged later in the month, the statewide average temperature was still three degrees above normal.
Precipitation was about a quarter inch more than usual and while most of the state has adequate to surplus soil moisture levels, pockets of Indiana are still short.
The USDA says winter wheat conditions were relatively stable but muddy conditions have negatively impacted livestock condition and calving and has limited fieldwork in parts of the state.
The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
