A strong finish to 2020 still a possibility

A livestock economist says it may be difficult to see right now, but there is still an opportunity for livestock markets to rebound and finish the year strong.

University of Missouri’s Scott Brown says take China for example.  “With that economy back again we’ve seen some pretty good movements and exports of things like corn to China,” he says.  “I think their appetite for pork and perhaps beef could get stronger as we get into the latter part of 2020.”

But, he tells Brownfield a lot of uncertainties remain.  “For me, the big question still sits here with what happens on the domestic demand front when we get into the last few months of 2020,” he says.  “Do we get enough recovery going on that we start to see some positive signs on domestic demand.  But, I do think we can come out the other side and be more positive late this year.”
