Incoming MN Turkey director looks post-pandemic
The incoming director of the Minnesota Turkey Growers expects the landscape to look different for the industry once the pandemic is over.
Sarah Anderson says ag labor is a major question mark going forward.
“We want to make sure that we have an ample supply of workers that can help to keep the production up to the pace for the demand we have here in the state and at the national level as well.”
Minnesota leads the nation in turkey production.
She tells Brownfield this is an opportune time to tout products.
“It is the healthiest meat for you to eat, which is fantastic. They grow turkeys without any growth hormones. It is a very clean meat, so there is just so much that we can promote about it.”
Anderson, who begins her role with the Turkey Growers April 6th, says the industry also helps support other entities. She points to farmers who produce the feed and the truckers who transport it.
