Tennessee crops: 12% corn planted

Drier conditions during the first part of the week helped farmers make some progress across the state.  According to the USDA, 12 percent of the corn crop has been planted.  57 percent of apples are in full bloom.  73 percent of the wheat crop has jointed and 6 percent has headed, with 64 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.  63 percent of pastures are rated good to excellent.  The first strawberries have been harvested in western Tennessee. 

98 percent of Topsoil and 98 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
