USDA grants $600,000 to INfield Advantage program
The USDA has granted $600,000 to the Indiana Soybean Alliance, Indiana Corn Marketing Council, and Indiana State Department of Agriculture for the INfield Advantage program.
The program uses on-farm data to help farmers improve management practices, farm profitability, and the environment. The program is a partnership between ISA, ICMC, ISDA, Purdue Extension county offices, and local Soil and Water Conservation Districts.The USDA grant will allow the program to expand partnerships to include certified crop advisors, co-ops, and ag retailers.
The funding will provide participants with soil health assessments, soil chemical tests, tissue samples in fields with tillage, cover crop, or nutrient management trials, and more.
ISA Board Chairman David Rodibaugh, a farmers from Rensselaer, says Indiana’s soybean and corn checkoffs will conduct research and educate farmers on best practices for producing a crop.
