Historic McKee Button Company complex up for auction

Bidding opens April 30 for the historic Mckee Button Company complex on Hershey Avenue in Muscatine. There will an open house on April 23 from 1-3 p.m.

This historic building is situated along the banks of the Mississippi river, right next to the Muscatine river walk trail system. Dating back to 1907, the building has always been home to the McKee Button Company.

“The time has come for the next chapter to be written in the history of this building,” auction company Steffes said in an online announcement. “What will it become? The new buyer will have the opportunity to make this property a true gem in the Pearl City of Muscatine.”

The facility offers production space, tool rooms, storage areas, a freight elevator and offices with river views. It is currently zoned M1.

Included in the sale are the building’s vacuum system, vault with a safe and any item present on the day of the closing.

Not included are a trailer cargo box, railroad box car, resin transfer pump, 2,000-pound jib gantry crane, air compressors, refrigerator, dishwasher and other equipment.
