Farmer urges motorists to be careful around machinery

A farmer and custom operator says he remains concerned for his safety and the safety of other farmers as spring planting continues.  Ben Augustine from Sheldon, Wisconsin tells Brownfield cars and trucks still take risks by passing implements of husbandry on narrow roads or over solid yellow lines. “I’m still seeing it happen, yeah, and sometimes it puts us in a pretty dangerous situation, quick.”

Augustine says motorists routinely pull out to pass him while operating farm machinery. “People have done it. You know, it’s more common than you think it is. I’ve had people pass me in town even, in a 25 mile per hour zone.”

Augustine urges drivers to be more careful, follow the law, and be more patient, especially around large, wide implements.
