MO State Fair to operate under restricted budget

The director of the Missouri State Fair says this year’s fair is operating under a tighter budget.

Mark Wolfe tells Brownfield state mandated budget cuts will lead to some changes for the livestock shows.

“One of the things that was decided on, that was approved by the governor’s office was to not do premiums for our livestock shows.”

Be he says not all show premiums will be cut…

“We were able to come together and decided that we could at least do the premiums for our 4-H and FFA [shows],” he said. So, our youth livestock shows will have premiums, but our open shows will not.”

Wolfe says the fair’s marketing budget is also smaller this year.
