The Cotton Board elects new officers
The Cotton Board has elected its officers for the 2020/2021 program year. Georgia cotton producer Jimmy Webb will serve as chairman, Sonja Chapman an importer from Boonton, New Jersey was elected vice chairman, Mark Nichols a producer from Oklahoma was elected secretary, and Akiko Inui an importer from New York City, New York was elected treasurer.
During its annual meeting, The Cotton Board also voted to recommend Cotton Incorporated’s 2021 budget of $80-million to the Secretary of Agriculture. The plan and budget is focused on addressing immediate challenges in the industry in order to improve market share and restore long-term profitability to the industry.
The Cotton Board serves as the administrator of the Cotton Research & Promotion Program and is funded by America’s cotton producers and importers through the cotton check-off.
