How might derecho impact fall crop drying?

The senior account manager for CHS Propane wonders how the derecho will impact crop drying this fall.

Dallas Engel says with thousands of acres affected, primarily in Iowa, it’s difficult to gauge how much propane it will take to dry down damaged corn.

“In order to even that crop out as they go and try to salvage as much as they possibly can.”

He tells Brownfield there’s extreme variability along the path of the derecho.

“I don’t know that we know what’s going to come out of Iowa at this point, with the corn that was either snapped or laying on its side.”

Engel says his fall outlook for propane availability is much more favorable compared to 2018 and 2019.
