New Missouri weather stations and outlook

The University of Missouri has expanded its weather station system across the state. Climatologist Pat Guinan with MU Extension says two more stations added recently bring the total to 39, “A collaboration with North Central Missouri University in Grundy County in the community of Trenton, we set up a weather station on the Barton farm. And then just in Cole County, a collaboration with Lincoln University. We’ve activated a real time station on the Busby farm in Cole County.”

Guinan says the weather stations update every five minutes and farmers can check on their areas online with real-time maps.

Guinan says the dry weather pattern from the west will enter the state this week bringing warmer than normal temperatures and very little rain…

“Something we’ll just need to keep an eye on especially for those driest areas in southwest Missouri.”

And he says the dry weather has expanded into northwest Missouri. Guinan made his comments on the MU Extension Town Hall online Thursday.
