USDA and FDA sign MOU on dairy exports

The U.S. Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen interagency coordination of exports of dairy and dairy products.

USDA Under Secretary Greg Ibach says USDA and FDA have clearly defined the critical functions needed to assist the dairy industry as trading partners request additional information from dairy exporters.

The U.S. Dairy Export Council and National Milk Producers Federation say they worked closely to foster this new approach to establish consistent guidance, lower barriers for dairy exports, and help the industry continue to grow.

U.S. dairy exports are valued at nearly $6 billion annually.
