Arkansas harvest progress: rice 70% and cotton 13% complete

Harvest progress made significant advancements this past week in Arkansas.  Rice is 70 percent harvested with 98 percent of the crop mature.  Cotton harvest is 13 percent complete with 98 percent of the crop opening bolls and 81 percent rated good to excellent.  Soybean harvest is 27 percent complete with 57 percent of the crop mature and 67 percent rated good to excellent.  Corn harvest is 86 percent complete. 

Forty-five percent of peanuts have been dug with 10 percent harvested and 93 percent is rated good to excellent. 

Alfalfa is rated 54 percent good.  Vegetables are rated 62 percent good to excellent.  Eight percent of the winter wheat crop is planted and 1 percent is emerged. 

Seventy-nine percent of Topsoil and 80 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
