SE Missouri farmer says he’s pleased with his corn crop

Southeast Missouri farmer Darren Brown has wrapped up corn harvest and says he’s very pleased with his results.  “Things are running just a bit later than normal for us,” he says.  “Corn yields have been phenomenal.  The white corn averaged in the 230 bushel range and the yellow corn was right there at 220 bpa.”

He tells Brownfield he expects to start soybean by the end of the week and cotton harvest is also just around the corner.  “The cotton crop looks really good, too,” he says.  “It’s not a phenomenal crop, but it’s a good crop.  We had some bad weather there in August that was wet and stormy and it threw off a lot of stuff at that time, a lot of fruit.”

Brown says they’ve had some wet weather recently and they’re just waiting for fields to dry out before picking harvest back up.
