Burn ban goes into effect for Muscatine County

Press release: The Muscatine County Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with the local Fire Chiefs and the State Fire Marshals Office, has determined that open burning constitutes a danger to life or property in Muscatine County.

Pursuant to Iowa Code 100.40(1) (1995), a Burn Ban is in effect as of 12 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2020, for all of Muscatine County. Violation of a prohibition issued under this section is a simple misdemeanor.

A general consensus from the Fire Chiefs of Muscatine County prompted Muscatine County Emergency Management Director Brian Wright to request the State Fire Marshals Office to prohibit open burning in Muscatine County.

The county wide ban will be lifted once the danger to life and/or property has changed.
