Hispanic food processing and farm workers more likely with COVID

A new CDC report says data it collected from March through May shows Hispanic and Latino food processing and farm workers appear more likely to be diagnosed with COVID-19.

Hispanic and Latino workers make up about 37% of the workforce in manufacturing and agriculture companies that were polled. They account for more than 70% of reported COVID cases.

The CDC says testing at facilities varied and not all states reported data.

It says reducing workplace exposure is critical and it supports comprehensive testing strategies, contact tracing, and symptom screening for workplaces that have high-density critical infrastructure, such as meat processing plants.
