USDEC opens center in Singapore

The U.S. Dairy Export Council this week officially opened a center in Singapore to better serve the Southeast Asian market.

Speaking during the recent AgriPulse Ag Outlook Forum, CEO Tom Vilsack said the U.S. Center for Dairy Excellence is the first of its kind and will strengthen relationships and innovations while telling the sustainable story of U.S. dairy.

“It is designed to send a message to Southeast Asia that the U.S. dairy industry is in the export market for good, it’s not an opportunistic exporter, it’s one that is permanently committed to relationships.”

The center will allow food scientists to create foods using U.S. dairy ingredients to meet the preferences of Southeast Asian customers with a demonstration kitchen, sensory panels and meeting spaces for customers.

Exports to the region have increased by more than $250 million in the last two years with skim milk powder as the top category.
