Four more South Dakota counties designated drought disaster areas

The USDA has designated Clay, Lincoln, Minnehaha and Turner counties in South Dakota primary drought disaster areas. Producers in those counties could be eligible for USDA and FSA emergency loans for recovery. Producers in the contiguous South Dakota counties of Hutchinson, Lake, McCook, Moody, Union and Yankton could also be eligible. Because of their location, eligibility also extends to producers in Lyon and Sioux Counties in Iowa; Pipestone and Rock Counties in Minnesota and Cedar and Dixon Counties in Nebraska. The deadline to apply for these emergency loans is June 16.
