2020 dairy exports could set new record

The U.S. Dairy Export Council says exports are on pace to exceed records set in 2018 with whey and cheese demand driving sales.

September export volumes were five percent higher than 2019, and milk solids exports are up nearly 16 percent for the first three quarters compared to last year.

Whey product exports through September are nearly double 2019.  Sales to China during the month were up 134 percent.

USDEC says nearly 20 percent of exports for the first nine months of the year were to Southeast Asia, or 4.5 percent of U.S. milk production.
