New University of Wisconsin meat sciences facility opens

A new state-of-the-art research facility is officially open at the University of Wisconsin.  The Meat Sciences facility is part of the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences and will be the university’s home for developing meat industry leaders, finding new uses for animal components, and improving safety and nutritional quality of animal-based proteins.

The 67-thousand square foot facility was approved for construction in 2012 and cost more than 57-million dollars.

The coronavirus pandemic forced the grand opening and facility tour to be entirely virtual and is available online HERE.
