Almost a full week’s worth of warm, dry weather pushed the corn harvest in Nebraska close to the finish.

In its latest weekly crop report, the USDA says as of Sunday 93 percent of the acreage is out.  That’s well ahead of 70 percent last year and the five-year average of 78 percent.

The sorghum harvest is 95 percent complete, 27 percent faster than a year ago and 15 percent ahead of normal.

And with 94 percent of Nebraska’s winter wheat crop emerged, just 43 percent is rated good to excellent.
