RVO deadline passes; RFA says let the Biden Administration handle it

November 30th was the deadline for the EPA to publish the final rule for its 2021 renewable volume obligations (RVOs).

Renewable Fuels Association CEO Geoff Cooper says it’s no surprise that EPA has missed the deadline, given that a rule hasn’t even been proposed.  He says, at this point, it makes more sense to let the new administration handle the 2021 RVO rulemaking process entirely.

Cooper says he’s confident, based on President-elect Joe Biden’s campaign promises, that the next administrator of EPA will “stop doing secret favors for oil refiners” and ensure the RFS is implemented the way Congress intended.  He says while it may take a few months for the new administration to get the RVO rule done, the marketplace should be able to enter 2021 with confidence around those blending requirements.
