New study highlights growing economic impact of poultry industry

An updated study shows the economic impact of the US poultry industry has increased by more than 15% with the addition of nearly 155,000 jobs since 2018.

The economic impact study released by the US Poultry and Egg Association, National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation and United Egg Producers shows the US poultry industry provides more than 2.1 million jobs, $121.1 billion in wages, more than $576 billion in economic activity and nearly $42 billion in government revenue nationwide.

In Illinois the industry was responsible for as much as $18.10 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting more than 55,000 total jobs in 2020.

In Missouri, the industry was responsible for as much as $17.27 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting nearly 69,000 total jobs in 2020.

In Nebraska, the industry was responsible for as much as $12.82 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting more than 38,000 total jobs in 2020.

In Iowa, the industry was responsible for as much as $25.86 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting more than 69,000 total jobs in 2020.

In Minnesota, the industry was responsible for as much as $28.14 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting more than 104,000 total jobs in 2020.

In Wisconsin, the industry was responsible for as much as $10.08 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting more than 37,000 total jobs in 2020.

In Michigan, the industry was responsible for as much as $8.53 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting more than 33,000 total jobs in 2020.

In Indiana, the industry was responsible for as much as $14.54 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting more than 49,000 total jobs in 2020.

In Ohio, the industry was responsible for as much as $19.72 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting more than 76,000 total jobs.

In South Dakota, the industry was responsible for as much as $3.75 billion in total economic activity throughout the state, creating or supporting nearly 12,000 total jobs in 2020.
