Steering committee recommends Scott as House Ag Committee Chair
The House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee is recommending that Congressman David Scott serve as chair of the House Ag Committee.
The committee selected the Georgia Democrat over Congressman Jim Costa of California by a vote of 32-19 Tuesday night.
The full House Democratic Caucus will vote on the recommendation Thursday.
Scott would be the first Black chair of the House Ag Committee.
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association congratulated him on the nomination. CEO Colin Woodall says Scott’s expertise on cattle issues demonstrates his commitment to helping producers succeed and NCBA is looking forward to the opportunity to continue working with him in the future.
