Midwest’s largest Christmas tree state recognized by governor

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has declared December as Michigan Christmas Tree Month to honor the industry.

Michigan is the third largest producer in the nation for the number of Christmas trees harvested, behind Oregon and North Carolina.  About two million fresh trees are harvested each season from 37,000 acres on the more than 560 Christmas tree farms in the state.

Michigan growers sell more varieties than any other state and plant three new trees for every one harvested.
