Kohl: ‘What happens when government supports are pulled back?’

Governments payments will account for nearly 40 percent of U.S. net farm income in 2020.

But what will happen to that government support next year? Ag economist Dr. David Kohl says it is one of his biggest concerns.

“What happens when those government supports are pulled back–what ‘s going to be the game plan,” Kohl asks. “I worry about it–because it makes a passive type of manager.”

Kohl says current levels of government support are not sustainable.

Kohl made his comments during a Farm Credit Services of America webinar.
