Monarch Tractor, a California-based company, has introduced what it calls the “the world’s first fully electric, driver-optional, smart tractor”.

The first tractor produced by Monarch is a compact 40 horsepower model. It is powered by a large battery with ten hours or more of operating time. A battery recharge requires up to five hours.

The base price is 50-thousand dollars. The tractor is now being field tested, and Monarch says it plans to introduce new models in higher horsepower ranges.
