Corn leader says biofuels are key to global air quality improvement

The chairman of the National Corn Growers Association says biofuels like ethanol can play a large role in improving air quality and environmental concerns worldwide.

Kevin Ross says they have seen air quality improvements domestically and want to help achieve that through the expansion of biofuels in other countries.

“We see this as a solution to that- certainly our sustainable practices that we have here in the US that we are continually improving on.”

Ross says including possibilities and removing barriers for biofuels in trade relationships will be vital to that role moving forward.

“Ethanol has a bright future and that is not just here in the US, but across the globe and we are ready to capitalize on that.”

Ross made his comments as part of a Farmers for Free Trade webinar releasing ag policy recommendations for the Biden Administration that included lifting ethanol bans in major international markets and supporting the establishment of a low carbon octane standard.
