Mo Farmers Care donated 1 million plus meals in 2020

Missouri Farmers Care Drive to Feed Kids program donated more than 1 million meals to food banks across the state in 2020.

Missouri Farmers Care Executive Director Ashley McCarty tells Brownfield the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for the program.

“It has never been more necessary, it has never been more challenging,” McCarty said. “Individuals in sectors that never imagined being unemployed have been hit like no other time.”

She said while the total amount donated in 2020 was lower than past years because of the pandemic, Missourians donated more than 50,000 meals through personal donations.

“2020 brought out the best in Missourians, that is the highest individuals we’ve ever seen in the several years now of the Drive to Feed Kids,” she said. “I think everybody saw the challenges we all faced and how it impacted many Missourians.”

McCarty said the Drive to Feed Kids program, sponsored in part by Brownfield Ag News, is expecting a big year in 2021 as key events for the program like the Missouri State Fair return. To get involved with the Drive to Feed Kids program, visit MO Farmers Care’s website.
