Soy Transportation leader pleased Buttigieg tapped as Transportation Secretary

President Elect Joe Biden has selected Pete Buttigieg, former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, as Transportation Secretary nominee.

Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says he’s confident Buttigieg understands the importance of a transportation strategy that addresses urban and rural America.

For US farmers to remain competitive, Steenhoek says sufficient investments will be needed in roads and bridges, highways and interstates, freight railroads, inland waterways, and ports.

The Soy Transportation Coalition is hopeful one of Biden’s early initiatives following his inauguration will be a comprehensive infrastructure plan.
