Solid cropping plan critical for strong corn yield

An agronomist with Golden Harvest says now is the time to be setting cropping plans. Adam Noellsch tells Brownfield a solid cropping plan is the foundation for a strong corn yield.

“Really plan and think about product placement because one of the biggest things to help boost corn yield is just putting the right hybrid in the right field,” he said.

He said planting hybrid corn varieties where they need to be provides a better chance of growing a “picket fence stand.”

“Planting in any way that we’re going to maximize getting a good, even stand, even emergence… getting what I call getting a picket fence stand, will help boost yields,” Noellsch said.

Noellsch said farmers should also be monitoring soil conditions to promote corn emergence when the crop is planted.
