First Dakota donates $350,000 for SDARL financial seminar

First Dakota National Bank has made a $350,000 endowed funding gift for the South Dakota Agricultural and Rural Leadership (SDARL) program to do a seminar on agriculture, finance, and economic development.

The SDARL program provides leadership education for leaders in rural communities. The 18-month program features seminars that develop skills, knowledge, and character.

“We utilize the SDARL program as part of our executive training, and several bank employees are graduates of SDARL,” said Nate Franzen, President of the Agri-Business Division at First Dakota, quoted in a news release from SDARL. “We have seen first-hand how the program has benefitted agriculture in South Dakota.”

The “First Dakota National Bank Seminar on Agriculture, Finance, and Economic Development” is a three-day learning session demonstrating how agriculture is the economic engine that drives South Dakota.

“First Dakota National Bank has supported SDARL since the leadership program started more than 20 years ago,” said Don Norton, SDARL CEO. “We gratefully appreciate the continued support the bank provides, and endowing this seminar will have a broad impact on South Dakota agriculture and rural communities for many years to come.”

First Dakota National Bank is based in Yankton with five loan production offices in South Dakota.

Now in its 20th year, the SDARL program is a series of seminars where competitively-selected class members learn to be South Dakota agriculture and rural community leaders.
