Duvall opens Farm Bureau virtual convention with pledge to work alongside new administration

During the opening session of American Farm Bureau’s virtual convention Sunday, president Zippy Duvall assured members AFBF is poised to work alongside a new Administration and new Congress.

From his farm in Georgia, Duvall said Farm Bureau is already building relationships with President-elect Biden and his transition team.

“To continue to be the strong national voice of agriculture.”

He says regardless of who is in Washington, Farm Bureau’s impact comes down to its active and engaged grassroots members.

“We must work together because we still have much more to do for our American farmers.”

That includes evaluating the impact of COVID-19 on the U.S. food system, addressing rural mental stress, and participating in climate change discussions.

“Farmers already have a great story to tell. When it comes to protecting our environment, about 140 million acres of farmland are enrolled in the conservation programs. That’s more than the landmass of California and New York combined.”

Duvall also raised tax and farm labor concerns, called for more access to foreign markets, and urged further investments in ag innovation.
