China makes another big U.S. corn purchase

The USDA is reporting the second largest purchase of U.S. corn on record.

China bought 2.108 million tons of corn for delivery this marketing year, pushing Beijing’s week to date total to 5.848 million tons.

That doesn’t include this week’s sales to unknown destinations, which could turn out to be China when it’s time for delivery.

China also bought 132,000 tons of U.S. soybeans for delivery next marketing year.

The UDSA’s next set of supply and demand estimates is out February 9th.
