Tyson announces new Climate-Smart Beef Program

A new sustainability initiative aims to help address greenhouse gas emissions in beef production.

Dr. Justin Ransom with Tyson Foods tells Brownfield the company has announced a first-of-its-kind Climate-Smart Beef Program.

“We want to improve resilience in our value chain both economically for farmers and ranchers as well as environmentally,” Ransom said.

Tyson’s Chad Martin says the initiative will incentivize producers who adopt climate-smart practices.

“The incentivizing component of this becomes not just from a monetary standpoint, because that’s market based, but more so the data and information that transfers back down the supply chain and then back up the supply chain,” Martin said.
