A group of more than 50 ag organizations has sent a letter urging the Senate to confirm Xochitl Torres Small as the next Deputy Secretary of the USDA.
In the letter to Senate Ag Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow of Michigan and Ranking Member John Boozman of Arkansas, the groups asked for a swift confirmation, which would allow Torres Small to begin work on the critical issues facing USDA.
The letter outlines her qualifications for the role and highlights her deep commitment to addressing challenges in the ag supply chain, fostering economic opportunities and security through rural infrastructure investments, and fighting for the needs of rural Americans.
Following her nomination Chairwoman Stabenow said she planned to move Torres Small’s nomination through the Committee as expeditiously as possible, but a date has not yet been set for her confirmation hearing.
