A local meat processor says recent grants have helped reduce the cost of expanding their business in an effort to meet consumer demand.
Eric Klitz, owner of Nebraska-based Oak Barn Beef, says funds from USDA have provided new technologies that add value to their product. “We’re helping pave the way for other direct-to-consumer meat companies. This grant helps us test out different processes and make it more economically viable for other companies to follow our path.”
The facility was awarded USDA’s Value-Added Producers grant and Hannah Klitz says local grants have created additional marketing opportunities.
