Hinson calls for boost in livestock resources in the farm bill

U.S. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson says the 2023 Farm Bill should include additional resources for foreign animal disease preparedness.

“Animal health and resiliency is something I continue to hear about from our producers across the state,” Hinson said Thursday.

She tells Brownfield the industry is concerned about, “Bio-health and bioterrorism. We have seen what can happen with a virus moving very quickly in the animal health space.”

Hinson says a detection of a disease like African swine fever could be detrimental to the U.S.
