The National Pork Producers Council is focused on the hog market, farm policy, and labor shortages as stakeholders gather in Des Moines for the World Pork Expo.
NPPC CEO Bryan Humphreys says profitability is a struggle for many pork producers right now.
“We’ve come off a couple pretty decent years in the pork industry, and if you just look at the hog prices right now they seem fairly competitive. But we’ve got some fairly high input prices, and that presents a real challenge for the folks in our industry.”
On the farm bill, he tells Brownfield NPPC wants to see continued support for foreign animal disease preparation and prevention.
