The Muscatine City Council will hold five public hearings, and set dates for two more hearings during their meeting Thursday, August 17, in the Muscatine City Hall Council Chambers. The City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m.
The public is welcomed, and encouraged, to attend the meeting in person. A virtual option is available for citizens who cannot attend in-person. Information on joining the virtual session is listed below.
The City Council session will also be broadcast live on the City of Muscatine YouTube channel and on Civic-TV (Muscatine Power & Water Cable Channel 2).
The first two public hearings discuss changes to City Code regarding the Right of Way Inspections and Permit Process, and to Inspections. Revisions to the Airport District Zoning Ordinance will also be discussed along with the declaration of 619 Hope Avenue as surplus and authorizing the sale of the property. Resolutions regarding each public hearing will be discussed and voted on later in the meeting.
The will be a change to the Council meeting schedule in September as several members, along with the City Administrator, will be absent for the September 21 scheduled meeting due to their attendance at the Iowa League of Cities annual meeting. The September 21 meeting will be moved up to 6 p.m. on September 14 with the scheduled in-depth session to be held immediately after the regular meeting.
Among other items on the August 17 agenda:
- Set a public hearing on Sept. 7 on the sale by sealed bid of the city owned property at 891 W. 8th Street;
- Set a public hearing on Sept. 7 for the UV Replacement Project at the Water and Resource Recovery Facility;
- Approve the milling and paving of 67th Avenue West
