U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley says farm payments need to be limited in the next farm bill.
“I’m going to try to get a hard cap put on what one family farmer can get at $250,000 if there’s two in the family.”
The Iowa Republican tells Brownfield the current system rewards corporate farms. “I believe that we ought to target the safety net towards medium and small farmers. I don’t have anything against big farmers getting bigger.”
Grassley says federal subsidy payments have been going to large operations that don’t need support.
