A spring wheat grower in northwest Minnesota says yields are disappointing.
Theresia Gillie began harvest Wednesday.
“Kind of a little disappointing for me, (yields are) about two-thirds of my average. We just didn’t get the rains we needed.”
She tells Brownfield an abnormally warm summer didn’t help the crop.
“In late May and early June it was just really hot too, so we just didn’t get those extra shoots like we normally do when we plant our wheat.”
Gillie says the quality of the wheat is good but she’s going to be short on bushels.
