Iowa Farm Bureau president confident farm bill feedback has paid off

As listening sessions wind down across the country, the president of Iowa Farm Bureau is confident many priorities will be addressed in the next farm bill.

Brent Johnson grows corn and soybeans in west central Iowa and says ag stakeholders have had many opportunities to provide feedback on the 2023 Farm Bill.

“We’ve put in a lot of footwork so far, and I think it’s paid off. I think we’re in a pretty good spot.”

There have been concerns crop insurance could be tied to conservation, but Johnson tells Brownfield House Ag Committee Chair Glenn GT Thompson has assured him the new farm bill will not become a climate bill.
