The latest U.S. dairy stocks report reflects a lower supply of milk and earlier preparations for holiday demand.
The USDA’s Cold Storage report pegs cheese stocks at nearly 1.5 billion pounds, down one percent from the prior month and two percent on the year. Other types of cheese, like mozzarella and parmesan, posted a record high for the month.
Butter inventories were down five percent from last month but up five percent from a year ago at more than 331 million pounds.
