U.S. rice stocks at the start of the August were well below a year ago.
The USDA says the domestic supply of unmilled rice was 24.236 million hundredweight, a drop of 26% on the year, partially because of the smaller 2022 crop. Most of that was held off farm, either by end users or exporters.
Milled rice stocks were 13% under a year ago at 4.214 million hundredweight.
The USDA’s next set of supply and demand estimates is out September 12th.
