September forecast looks split, but favorable for harvest

An ag meteorologist says September is expected to end warmer than normal despite the current cool-down.

Michigan state climatologist Jeff Andresen says the month is starting cooler and drier than typical across much of the Corn Belt

“We’ll probably have a new batch of Canadian air to move in with cooler temperatures, so I think the coolest period will probably be on Wednesday and Thursday,” he explains.

He says the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s latest outlook suggests ridging over central and eastern parts of the U.S.
