Rain could help Indiana farmers

Crops are maturing behind normal in Indiana, but conditions are steady.

The USDA says corn is now rated at 65 percent good to excellent with 96 percent in the dough stage, 70 percent dented, and 12 percent mature.  About 32 percent of corn has been harvested for silage.

Soybeans are 96 percent setting pods and 19 percent dropping leaves with 65 percent of the crop in good to excellent condition.
Pastures and rangelands are rated 42 percent in good to excellent shape.
