An Autumn chill moderates next week across the Heartland; more rain for parts of the Corn Belt

The interaction between Tropical Storm Philippe and an approaching cold front will result in increasingly unsettled weather across the Northeast.  Although Philippe is likely to be a post-tropical storm when arriving in Maine on Sunday, impacts may include high winds and heavy rain, which could total 2 to 4 inches or more.

Farther west, cold air trailing the cold front will lead to widespread, growing season-ending freezes across the northern half of the Plains and upper Midwest on Saturday morning, followed by scattered Midwestern frost and light freezes on Sunday.
