Indiana farmer says soybean yields have been a pleasant surprise

Southwest Indiana farmer Ben Kron says harvest has been at a steady pace since combines started rolling.

He tells Brownfield he’s nearing the halfway mark. “Our overall corn yield is looking kind of like an average year, nothing that we’re overly wild with or nothing we’re disappointed with by any means,” he says.  “Especially from this spring and summer, we were really, really dry over here.”

As for soybeans, Kron says, “We’re really happy with our soybean yields and I would say we’re above average most likely on our bean yields so far.”

He says his soybeans have had some green stem issues but other than that the quality for both corn and beans has been good.
