A dispute between two parties led to an exchange of gunfire near Fourth Street Park Wednesday afternoon, and the Muscatine Police Department would like to make the public aware that this was an isolated event and is believed not to be an ongoing threat to the public.
At approximately 2 p.m., Wednesday, the emergency communications center received a report of gun fire in the area of 408 Broadway. Officers responded to the scene and located several witnesses to the shooting. Further investigation revealed that there were no injuries but the residence at 701 W 4th Street was struck by gunfire. An area around Fourth Street Park was temporarily shut down while the investigation took place.
The shooting appeared to be sparked by a disagreement between two parties that quickly escalated into an exchange of gunfire between the parties. Muscatine Police believe this was an isolated incident and there is not any ongoing threat to the public.
One of the parties, identified as Aaron Doe (DOB 01/01/2001), was located at the scene and has been taken into custody on an unrelated warrant. The other party fled the scene prior to police arrival.
